Sauteed Cabbage + Green Apple

If you want the flavors of sauerkraut but don’t want to wait weeks to produce your own tangy batch, whip us this quick cabbage saute! Inspired by the flavors of your favorite fermented side, made in a fraction of the time!


Yields: About 4 servings as a side

1 tbsp olive oil

1 19 ounce package shredded green cabbage

1 green apple, sliced thin

2 tbsp apple cider vinegar

1 tbsp whole caraway sides


  1. Add olive oil to pan, once very hot, add cabbage and apple.

  2. Cook about 5-7 minutes stirring often.

  3. Add caraway seeds and cook 1 minute more.

  4. Add vinegar and cover pan.

  5. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.

  6. Remove pan and cook for 2 minutes more.

  7. Once the cabbage looks nicely brown and the apples have caramelized, remove from heat and serve!
