Broccoli with Lemon Olive Oil Dunking Sauce

I love going to Italian restaurants that serve bread with olive oil and vinegar for dunking however I can’t help but think of all those empty carbohydrates I’m ingesting. This recipe plays off that concept with healthier ingredients that aren’t any less delicious.


Yields: 6 servings

I large head of broccoli

2 lemons; juiced

1 tsp lemon zest

½ cup good quality olive oil



  1. Fill a large pot with water and bring to boil

  2. Cut up broccoli into bite size pieces

  3. Once the water is boiling add the broccoli

  4. Submerge the broccoli, turn of the heat and let lightly steam for 5 minutes

  5. Add lemon juice and olive oil to small bowl

  6. Whisk in salt and pepper and lemon zest

  7. Remove broccoli from pot; drain

  8. Dip broccoli in lemon olive oil dip
